From beginning painting to life drawing, from pastels to watercolors, from real life to portraits, the Jewish Community Center's Studio Art Classes under supervision of our qualified instructor, are designed to nurture talents, widen horizons, and enrich the lives of our students.
Beginning Sculpture
Learn the ancient art of sculpting. This class will introduce you to three dimensional form and space and teach you how to move your ideas from your head to a finished work of art! You will learn plaster casting, additive sculpting and hand carving and will become familiar with the basic tools used for sculpting. Every student will create a bas relief, free standing sculpture or both, and will leave the class with at least one completed project. No experience necessary, just a desire to create.
Maximum class size is 15.
Feb. 9-Apr. 6 Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Fee: $225 Member Fee: $180 Age: 14+
Sculpture supply cost is included in course fee. Students purchase their own bases for free standing sculptures.

Intermediate Drawing
An exploration of new and well known drawing materials used by artists to express themselves. An introduction to colored pencils is included.

Water Media & Water-Soluble Oils Painting
This on-going workshop is for you if you are interested in developing your design and technique skills. Learning new and contemporary visual ideas is our goal.

Instructors
William M. Duffy has been teaching art to adults and students in the Metro Louisville area for more than 25 years. He began stone carving shortly after earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Louisville School of Art. Duffy is widely known for his distinctive and universal figurative heads and family-themed carvings and bronzes. To learn more about Duffy, visit: www.wmduffy.com.
Sue Huttenlocher received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UofL in 1982 concentrating in painting. She has been a Continuing Education Instructor since 1975 and has served as president of the Kentucky Watercolor Society where she has won many awards.
